Digital Success Weekly gives you one simple step to move your online presence forward, in 30 minutes or less.
This week is a follow-up to Week 16: Set Up (or Claim) Your Google Business Profile. Now that your profile is set up, it's time to make sure the key details are filled in properly. Especially your hours and location.
What This Focus Is Really About
Think of your business hours and location on Google as a sign in your window.
When someone finds your business online, the first thing they want to know is: when are you open and where can I find you? If that information is missing or wrong, you could be losing customers without ever knowing it.
Why This Matters
1. People check your hours before they contact you
Most people look up a business's hours before they call, visit, or reach out. If your hours aren't on Google, they may assume you're not open or not active.
2. Wrong information costs you customers
If your hours are outdated or your location is incorrect, people show up at the wrong time or can't find you. That's a frustrating experience they won't forget.
3. Google uses this information to match you with local searches
The more complete your profile is, the better Google understands your business. That helps you show up in the right searches, in the right area, at the right time.
4. It only takes a few minutes to update
This is one of the quickest wins you can make for your online presence. A few minutes of effort can save a lot of missed connections.
What to Check and Update:
Your business hours (including any special holiday hours)
Your address, or your service area if you work from home or travel to clients
Your phone number
Your website URL
Your business category (this helps Google match you to the right searches)
A Few Tips to Keep in Mind
If your hours change seasonally, update them in Google each time
If you work by appointment only, you can note that in your profile description
Make sure your hours match what's on your website
Double-check that your phone number and website link are correct
Your Action Step
Log into your Google Business Profile at business.google.com. Ask yourself:
"Are my hours current and accurate?"
"Is my location or service area up to date?"
"Does all my contact information match what's on my website?"
If anything is out of date, fix it this week. It's a small update that can make a real difference.
