Digital Success Weekly gives you one simple step to move your online presence forward, in 30 minutes or less.
This week is about social proof. What other people say about you is more powerful than anything you say about yourself.
What This Focus Is Really About
Think of testimonials as your best word-of-mouth referrals, written down.
When a potential customer lands on your website, they're looking for reasons to trust you. A real testimonial from a real person gives them exactly that.
Why This Matters
1. People trust other people
We look to others to help us make decisions. A genuine review from a happy client carries more weight than the best-written sales page. It's just human nature.
2. Testimonials reduce hesitation
When someone is on the fence about working with you, a testimonial can tip them over the edge. It tells them: "Other people have taken this step and it worked out."
3. They work for you around the clock
A testimonial on your website works while you sleep. It's always there, always reassuring the next visitor who lands on your page.
4. You might already have them
Think about the kind words people have shared with you in emails, in messages, or in conversation. Those are testimonials waiting to happen. You just need to ask permission and put them on your site.
How to Get Testimonials
Ask happy clients or customers directly
Send a short email: "Would you be willing to write a few words about your experience working with me?"
Make it easy by suggesting what to include (what they needed, what they got, how they feel now)
Check your inbox for kind words people have already sent you
Where to Add Them on Your Website
Your homepage (near your call to action)
Your About page
Your services or products page
A dedicated Testimonials page
A Few Tips to Keep in Mind
Use the person's real name and photo if possible
Always get written permission before using any quote
Keep them short and specific. Specific results are more convincing than general praise.
Even one or two strong testimonials can make a real difference
Your Action Step
Think about the people you've helped. Ask yourself:
"Do I have any testimonials on my website right now?"
"Who could I reach out to this week and ask for a review?"
"Are there kind words in my inbox that I could ask permission to use?"
Take one step this week. Either add a testimonial you already have, or reach out to one person and ask for one.
You don't need a wall of reviews. You just need one real one to get started.
