Digital Success Weekly gives you one simple step to move your online presence forward, in 30 minutes or less.
You've chosen your platform, set up your list, and created a freebie. This week you're putting it all together by adding a sign-up form to your website so visitors can actually subscribe.
What This Focus Is Really About
Think of your sign-up form as the front door to your email list.
You've built something valuable. Now you need to make it easy for people to find it. If your sign-up form is buried, missing, or hard to notice, people won't sign up. Even if they wanted to. This week you're making sure the door is open and easy to walk through.
Why This Matters
1. People can only join your list if you give them a way to do it
A sign-up form is the mechanism that turns website visitors into email subscribers. Without one, all that website traffic just passes through without leaving a trace.
2. Placement matters
A form buried at the bottom of your Contact page won't get many sign-ups. The same form placed prominently on your homepage, in your blog posts, or in a pop-up will perform much better.
3. It works around the clock
Once your form is set up, it runs on its own. Every day, people can discover your freebie and join your list without you doing anything at all.
4. It doesn't have to be complicated
A simple form with a name field and an email field is all you need. Keep the form short. The simpler it is, the more people will fill it out.
Where to Add Your Sign-Up Form
Your homepage (near the top, where people can see it without scrolling)
Your About page (people who read your About page are often ready to engage further)
At the end of each blog post (catch readers while they're already interested)
Your website footer (a consistent presence across every page)
A pop-up (optional, but effective if timed well)
A Few Tips to Keep in Mind
Mention your freebie clearly on or near the form ("Sign up and get your free checklist")
Keep the form to two fields at most: name and email
Add a short line above the form that tells people what they'll receive
Make sure the form actually works by testing it yourself before you share it
Your Action Step
Log into your email platform and create a sign-up form. Then add it to at least one page on your website. Ask yourself:
"Have I added a sign-up form to my homepage?"
"Is it easy to find without scrolling too far?"
"Does it clearly mention what people will receive when they sign up?"
Set up your form this week and test it to make sure it works.
Your email list can only grow if people have a way to join it.
