Once you are clear on who you help and what you offer (that's Step 1 of the Digital Success Roadmap). it's time to give your business a simple, recognizable look.
This is Step 2: Create a Simple Brand.

What Does "Brand" Really Mean?
When people hear the word "brand," they often picture something big and complicated. A logo designer. A 40-page brand guideline. Hours of work.
It does not have to be that way.
At its core, your brand is just a handful of choices that help people recognize you:
Your colours
Your fonts
Your photos
The way you talk to people (your voice and messaging)
When these stay consistent, people start to recognize you, whether they're scrolling social media or landing on your website. That recognition builds trust over time.
Why This Step Matters
Imagine visiting a business's website, then their Instagram, then getting an email from them... and everything looks completely different each time. Different colours. Different fonts. Different tone.
It feels disjointed. It can even make people wonder if they're in the right place.
Now imagine the opposite. The colours feel familiar. The photos feel familiar. The way they write feels familiar. That consistency makes your business feel more professional and more trustworthy, even if you are a one-person operation working from your kitchen table.
A simple brand is not about looking fancy. It's about looking like you, consistently.
What This Looks Like in Real Life
You don't need a design degree to do this well. Here's a simple way to approach it.
1. Pick 2 to 3 main colours. Choose colours that feel like your business. You can keep it simple: one main colour, one accent colour, and a neutral.
2. Pick 1 to 2 fonts. One for headings, one for body text. That's plenty.
3. Choose a photo style. Decide if you'll use real photos of you and your work, simple stock photos, or a mix. Try to keep the style consistent (lighting, mood, colours).
4. Write down how you want to sound. Are you warm and encouraging? Direct and no-nonsense? Playful? Pick a few words that describe your voice, and keep them nearby when you write content.
Once you have these basics, you can use them everywhere: your website, your social posts, your emails, and your printed materials.
