Week 47: Look at Your Website Analytics

Updated: Jul 22

Digital Success Weekly gives you one simple step to move your online presence forward, in 30 minutes or less.

This week is about your website analytics. Numbers might not be your favourite thing. But your analytics tell you something really valuable. They tell you what's working so you can do more of it.

What This Focus Is Really About

Think of your analytics as a report card for your website.

You don't need to understand every number. You just need to look at a few key things regularly and let them guide your decisions. The goal isn't to become a data expert. It's to stop guessing about what's working and start knowing.

Why This Matters

1. You can't improve what you don't measure

If you never look at your analytics, you're making decisions based on guesses. Even a quick monthly check gives you real information to work with.

2. Analytics show you where your visitors come from

Are people finding you through Google? Social media? Direct searches? Knowing where your traffic comes from helps you focus your energy in the right places.

3. They show you which pages people actually visit

You might think your About page is the most important one. Your analytics might tell you something different. Knowing which pages get the most visits helps you prioritize where to put your best content.

4. They're already tracking, even if you've never looked

Wix has built-in analytics that have been collecting data since you launched your site. You don't need to set anything up. You just need to look.

What to Look For in Your Analytics

  • Total visitors: How many people visited your site this month?

  • Top pages: Which pages get the most visits?

  • Traffic sources: Where are people coming from (Google, social media, direct)?

  • Bounce rate: Are people staying on your site or leaving right away?

A Few Tips to Keep in Mind

  • In WIX, find your analytics under the Analytics and Reports section of your dashboard

  • Don't compare yourself to other businesses. Just track your own trends over time.

  • Look at a full month of data rather than individual days for a clearer picture

  • Set a reminder to check your analytics once a month so it becomes a habit

Your Action Step

Log into your WIX dashboard and open your analytics this week. Ask yourself:

  • "How many visitors did my website get this month?"

  • "Which pages are people visiting most?"

  • "Where is most of my traffic coming from?"

Spend 30 minutes looking at the numbers. Write down one or two things you learned. Then use that to inform what you focus on next.
